The Tasmanian Youth Climate Leaders Program is for young people aged 10–18 who want to make a real difference for the planet.
You’ll learn about climate change, sustainability, and practical solutions — then turn your ideas into action by creating your own climate project at school or in your community. Along the way, you’ll be supported by mentors who help you build skills, confidence, and leadership experience.
Our goal is simple:
Inspire young people to take action now and become the climate leaders of tomorrow.
What You’ll Be Part Of
You’ll join a growing network of passionate young people across lutruwita / Tasmania working on projects that improve:
- Waste and recycling
- Biodiversity and nature
- Food security
- Transport solutions
- Energy use
- Climate justice
Since 2017, 200+ students every year from more than 30 schools and learning communities across Tasmania have taken part.
2026 Project Opportunities
Participants can apply for funding and mentoring to run projects such as:
- Fix Fast Fashion – rethink clothing and reduce waste
- Pocket Forests – plant mini forests for climate and habitat
- Switched On – energy audits and saving power
- Waste as a Resource – turning waste into solutions
- Bike as Transport – active, low-carbon travel
